Parish church and papal basilica of St. Jacob
From the Trinity Column, today a symbol of ecumenism in Straubing, the view opens up to the almost 100m high tower of Jakobskirche. Shortly after 1400, Hans von Burghausen, a great master of southern German late Gothic, began building the brick Gothic church.
The precious furnishings of the three-aisled interior with chapel chapels and ambulatory reflect local, regional and Bavarian art history from the late Middle Ages to the present day.
St. Jakob has a great treasure trove of late Gothic and historicist stained glass windows. The Moses window, designed by Albrecht Dürer, is outstanding and of national importance.
